hey everyone, and welcome to the first episodeof the pokemon tcg expansion fact show! today, we will be talking about base set. base setwas the first-ever pokemon set to be released. it was released on october 20th, 1996 in japan,and on january 9th, 1999 in the united states. there are 102 total cards in this set. somefinal evolutions of pokemon, such as dragonite and gengar, were omitted from base set andplaced instead in upcoming sets, such as jungle and fossil. the booster pack artworks forthis set feature venusaur, charizard, and blastoise. there are 2 categories of baseset cards: 1st edition and unlimited. both 1st edition and unlimited cards have shadowlessprint runs, where some of the text is thinner, and the artwork window has no shadow. shadowlesscards are more valuable than non-shadowless
